Audiomagnetotelluric (AMT) system
Abstract
The task was to design and build a portable system for collecting and analyzing AMT signals in the 10Hz to 10 kHz frequency range. The system consisted of both a backpack-portable data acquisition system and a data analysis computer. Audio magnetotellurics (AMT) is a way of determining the electrical resistivity distribution of the Earth's subsurface from measurements of natural electric and magnetic fields (lightning strikes). AMT provides a means of geothermal and petroleum exploration. In the past ten years, different approaches to AMT data acquisition instrumentation have been taken.
