Fabry-Perot interferometers
Abstract
The properties of Fabry-Perot interferometers are discussed. The mathematical basis for Fabry-Perot interferometers is reviewed. The optimum determination of Doppler shifts and widths, and the utilization of multiple Fabry-Perot devices in series are examined. The luminosity and resolution power for Fabry-Perot interferometers, Connes spherical variations of the Fabry-Perot, and the behavior of finite-size Fabry-Perot devices are analyzed. The effects of emitting and absorbing species in the etalon cavity are investigated. The preparation, construction, operation, and alignment of Fabry-Perot devices are described. The use of Fabry-Perot in Fourier or multiplex spectroscopy is studied to reveal the relation between Fabry-Perot and the two-beam Michelson interferometer.
