Three-Dimensional Photorefractive Signal Processing In Bismuth Silicon Oxide
Abstract
An optical processor based on a photorefractive bismuth silicon oxide (BSO) crystal is proposed, which can perform four-product correlation, using all three dimensions of the crystal. The position of the correlation spot inside the crystal bears a one-to-one correspondence with the correlation parameters. A hexagonal crystal shape is designed for this application. Profitable variations on the basic experimental design are discussed, as well as the complicating effects of optical activity in BSO.
