Method for calculating the tracking failure probability in radio measuring systems
Abstract
The theory of finite Markov chains with absorbing states is used to develop a method for calculating tracking failure probability. The calculation is made according to a formula that does not require matrix inversion and is based on the central-symmetry property of the transition-probability matrix of the tracking-meter (TM) states. The proposed method, taking into account the specific properties of the transition-probability matrix within the selection band of a first-order TM, makes it possible to significantly reduce the dimensionality of the problem of determining the tracking failure probability and the obtain analytical expressions suitable for engineering calculations.
