Method for calculating the tracking failure probability in radio measuring systems
Abstract
The theory of finite Markov chains with absorbing states is used to develop a method for calculating tracking failure probability. The calculation is made according to a formula that does not require matrix inversion and is based on the centralsymmetry property of the transitionprobability matrix of the trackingmeter (TM) states. The proposed method, taking into account the specific properties of the transitionprobability matrix within the selection band of a firstorder TM, makes it possible to significantly reduce the dimensionality of the problem of determining the tracking failure probability and the obtain analytical expressions suitable for engineering calculations.
