The spectrum of HD 72754.
Abstract
HD 72754 is a spectroscopic binary system with an orbital period of about 33.7 days. It was observed at the Abrahao de Moraes observatory (University of Sao Paulo) during December 19.77, with a SIT- Vidicon detector. UV spectra was obtained through the lUE satellite at the ESA station in Spain, on July 1979. The high-resolution data in dicates the presence of a tenuous envelope and gaseous streams in the system. The presence of SiIV and CIV resonance lines displaying asymmetric profiles suggests an expanding envelope. The UV spectra are dominated by metallic lines with variable intensity with respect to the orbital phase. A full version of this paper will be published elsewhere.
