Free nonlinear oscillations of a rotating rigid body in a central force field
Abstract
The paper is concerned with the free oscillations, relative to the center of mass, of a rotating rigid body moving in a Newtonian force field. Periodic solutions to the equations of motion are obtained by using an algorithm based on the method of continuation in shooting. The effect of the inertial parameters of the body on the stability of its oscillations relative to the center of mass is investigated.
