Development of a new interphase friction law for air-water flows in inclined pipes
Abstract
The modeling of interphase friction in two-phase flow was studied by bubbling air through a stagnant column of water, and a column of downward moving liquid. Correlations for the relative velocity, the drift flux, and the interfacial-drag coefficient were derived. Equations for the modeling of the interphase-friction force are proposed. Comparison between computational and experimental results validate the model, the solution method, and the friction formulas.
