Gasdynamic acceleration of ions in an inhomogeneous magnetic field
Abstract
A self-similar solution is obtained for equations describing the gasdynamic acceleration of ions in an inhomogeneous magnetic field. It is shown that, under certain conditions, the presence of an inhomogeneous magnetic field reduces the effect of diode current suppression by a cloud of oscillating electrons and increases the efficiency of ion acceleration. The acceleration of ions in a diode with a strongly scattering foil is calculated.
