Contact binaries with components in poor thermal contact. V. BE Cephei.
Abstract
Photometric observations of BE Cep recently published by Hoffmann (1984) were analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney code. A grid of solutions for several fixed values of the mass ratio was calculated. BE Cep is most probably a contact binary with components in poor thermal contact. The temperature difference between components is about 900 K. The cooler component of the system has a complex surface brightness distribution. Data for 13 contact binaries with components in poor thermal contact are presented.
