Analytical models for the vertical distribution of atmospheric trace gas components
Abstract
A method for the optimal approximation of vertical profiles of atmospheric trace gas components (H2O, O3, CO2, CO, CH4, N2O, NO, NO2) is used to develop adequate models for atmospheric gas composition up to an altitude of 50-60 km. These models are instrumental in the suppression of optical radiation, and they provide midband profiles of trace gas components which are based on the statistical generalization of radio-band and ozonometric data collected over the years. It is concluded that these models, which were developed for different latitudinal zones and seasons, are both accurate and useful as a supplement to available reference and assessment models of the atmosphere.
