Simultaneous variations of the auroral geomagnetic field and low-frequency emissions in the region of field-aligned currents
Abstract
Simultaneous low-frequency noise and magnetic field variations in the region of field-aligned currents are investigated at various magnetic disturbance levels on the basis of Intercosmos-18 data. It is shown that, on a background of large-scale field-aligned currents, small-scale currents are observed which can be correlated with low-frequency noise intensity bursts. It is suggested that this is one of the manifestations of the filamentary structure of the plasma.
