Order reduction of systems of differential equations in problems of mechanics
Abstract
The possibility of reducing the order of systems of differential equations with singular perturbations is considered with reference to periodic motions in flight dynamics. Sufficient conditions for the transition to a lesser-order system over an infinite time period are formulated. A theorem concerning the stability of a linear system with slowly varying coefficients is derived as a consequence.
