Contact and near-contact binary systems - VI. The semi-detached system CX Aquarii.
Abstract
BVRIc photometry and IPCS spectroscopy are presented for the short-period semi-detached binary CX Aquarii. The analysis of these data shows that the system is composed of a main-sequence primary component of spectral type F5, and an evolved secondary component of spectral type G9 which fills its Roche lobe. The system is expected to achieve contact within ≡108yr if the atmosphere of the primary component is convective, or within ≡5×108yr if the primary possesses a radiative atmosphere.
