Solutions for the electromagnetic boundary value problem in weak inhomogeneous hollow waveguides
Abstract
The propagation of electromagnetic waves in loss-free inhomogeneous hollow waveguides with circular cross sections is studied. Starting from the WKB method, adiabatic modes are defined, whose fields adapt smoothly to the slowly varying structure. An analytical calculative procedure is presented which more closely approximates the wave equation and the boundary conditions and is still economical in terms of computer space and time in the case of overdimensioned waveguides.
