Electron capture by 1.6-5 keV metastable hydrogen atoms in the inert gases and H2
Abstract
Measurements of cross sections for electron capture by metastable and ground-state hydrogen atoms in collision with H2, He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe have been performed in the 1.6-5 keV energy range using the experimental method of Hill et al. (1979). Good agreement is found with the results of Dose and Gunz (1972), Roussel et al. (1977), and Hill et al. except below 3 keV for He and Ne as target with the results of Roussel et al., and for Ar as target with the results of Dose and Gunz. No significant explanation for this discrepancy is found.
