The GRAD gamma ray spectrometer
Abstract
A gamma-ray spectrometer for an upcoming Space Shuttle mission is described. Consisting of a 150-cu cm n-type germanium detector set inside active shielding of bismuth germanate and plastic scintillator, the instrument will be used in studies of the Orbiter background and the galactic center.
