4-GHz band GaAs monolithic limiting amplifier
Abstract
The design and performance of a wide-band (4-GHz) GaAs monolithic limiting amplifier is presented. This amplifier has been developed for the application of a clock regeneration circuit for a gigabit optical transmission system. A small phase-shift deviation of less than 5 deg over the input dynamic range of -10 to 4 dBm at 1.8 GHz has been achieved. To predict the performance of the limiting amplifier accurately, the JFET model in SPICE2 has been improved.
