Spectral transformation of solar radiation by a sun-heated object as a pumping method for gas lasers
Abstract
The performance of a CO2 laser with optical excitation from an intermediate black body heated by solar radiation is analyzed. It is noted that the use of an intermediate body is efficient only to a certain heating temperature, with the spectral gain being sufficiently high. If very high spectral power flow is required, the direct use of concentrated solar radiation provides a simpler solution. An analysis is also made of the performance of a sun-pumped gas laser using a CO2-He (CO2-He-Ar) active medium.
