Extension of image theory for analysis of a wire parallel to a circular cylinder
Abstract
A simple and efficient approach to compute the input impedance and current distribution on a wire parallel to an infinitely long, perfectly conducting circular cylinder is presented. It consists of solving for the wire above an infinite ground plane using standard thinwire moment method (MM) procedures, but appropriately modifying the field due to the image segments by a geometrical constant. Comparison with measurements shows the validity of the technique, which can be easily implemented in any MM code.
