Wall turbulence - Hypotheses and facts

An attempt is made to systematize existing data on wall turbulence on the basis of dimensional analysis (Sedov, 1972) using a newly introduced concept. This concept is chiefly characterized by the use of only two length scales (l sub e and l sub i) and only one velocity scale (u sub tau) to systematize a collection of heterogeneous results, including mean velocity profiles and spectral and correlation characteristics.
