Operational error in the optical real-time multiple matrix multiplier and its compensation
Abstract
In a previously proposed optical system for real-time multiplication of the multiple matrix, the holographic unidirectional diffuser is essential although it is a source of error. In this paper, the operational error in multiplying three matrices due to the scattering pattern of the unidirectional diffuser is discussed based on experimental results. The error is found to be smaller than that obtained in the previous discussion, but it is relatively large. Simple methods to compensate the operational error caused by the scattering pattern are proposed which can make the expectation of error in the optical system zero and make its variance smaller than that without compensation.
