Sound emission by a plate of varying thickness
Abstract
The problem of sound emission by a plate of varying thickness submerged in a liquid is solved using the integral transform method for the case where the plate thickness is much less than the length of the bending wave and the length of the wave in the liquid. The effect of the extent of plate thickness variation on the magnitude of the acoustic pressure generated by the plate in the liquid is determined.
