Study on a double reflector compact range
Abstract
Mechanical tolerances and design of a compact far field antenna test range (CAR) were analyzed. A software package for determining the field in the test zone (aperture) of the CAR and the coupling to a given test antenna was developed. The study demonstrates drawbacks of the CAR due to the design based on cylindrical reflectors. Since it is not planned to use this reflector shape in the manufacturing, an alternative design based on doubly curved reflectors is presented. With this design the inherent cross polarization is cancelled and the scan properties of the CAR are considerably improved.
