A translation property in rough surface scattering
Abstract
A translation property is established for the surface face field at any point of an arbitrary surface and applied to the determination of the far zone field scattered by a random rough surface. It is illustrated by the evaluation of the coherent scattered field and of the effective Fresnel reflection coefficients. It is shown that the coherent field scattered by a rough surface is always specular. This property could significantly simplify scattering calculations from arbitrary rough surfaces.
