Pseudo-unsteady methods for inviscid or viscous flow computation
Abstract
Attention is given to pseudounsteady techniques that are based on principles applicable to the numerical computation of inviscid or viscous flows. The first of the approaches explored concerns the mathematical formulation of the time-dependent problem, and consists of the use of artificial time-derivative terms associated with the steady equations in order to obtain an unsteady system with better computational properties than the exact, unsteady system. The second approach relates to the numerical algorithm, and involves the use of numerical schemes that are not consistent with the unsteady equations, but become consistent with the steady ones at convergence.
