Analytical thermal analysis of the l-band transmitter replacement
Abstract
An L-band transmitter was designed to replace an existing unit. Increased transmitter reliability and increased mean time between failures were of primary concern for the new design. This report details the thermal analysis and design for a transmitter which operates in a sol-air temperature of 110 F (43 C) with zero wind speed. The thermal modeling programs used are Radiation View Factor (RAVFAC) and Systems Improved Numerical Differencing Analyzer (SINDA). The RAVFAC program is supported by a plotting program, Ravplot, and a date reduction program, Colaps.
