LDV system using single-mode fibres and applications
Abstract
The development and properties of a fiber-linked hybrid laser Doppler velocimeter (LDV) and a four-fiber LDV probe are described. The fiber-linked hybrid LDV probe consists of beam splitters, frequency shifters, and backward scattering receivers, and weighs about 4.5 kg. The four-fiber LDV probe is composed of lenses, four transmitting fibers, and a receiving fiber, and weighs about 0.8 kg. The four-fiber system is used to measure the flow of a premixed burner in both cold and combusting flow conditions. It is observed that the miniaturized two-color four-beam system accurately estimates the flow conditions; and also that the fiber-linked hybrid LDV system is stable and easy to handle.
