Gravitational counterterms in an axial gauge
Abstract
All the counterterms of quantum Einstein gravity are calculated up to bilinear terms and oneloop order in an axial gauge as a sum of gaugeinvariant and the BecchiRouetStorainvariant terms. Contrary to the de Donder gauge condition, ten out of thirtythree coefficients for counterterms remain undetermined in this gauge. Some relations among the counterterms, which satisfy the BRS invariance, are implicitly obtained in the course of the calculations.
