The vector-magnetograph of the Saian Solar Observatory
Abstract
The characteristics of a solar magnetograph designed to measure the magnetic field strength vector are studied. The selection of an optimum scheme for the electrooptical polarization analyzer and its control principles is discussed, and the optical equipment of the magnetograph and the electrooptical deflector are described. Errors in the alignment of the optical elements are considered, and the errors that result from the instrrmental polarization of the telescope are eliminated by measuring the polarization matrix of the telescope. The operation of the magnetograph is examined.
