Influence of imposed vortex on the development of turbulent free shear flow
Abstract
The paper presents results of an experimental and theoretical analysis of the influence of imposed vortex at the core of turbulent free shear flow. The interacton of the vortex and the shear layer strongly distorted the flow field near the nozzle exit. The extra rate of strain, produced by the imbedded vortex, results in attaining self similarity conditions for the mean flow parameters sooner than the situation with no vortex. This has also been confirmed by numerical integration of the transport equation using the k-epsilon model with modified coefficients.
