Laser-Doppler-anemometer measurements in turbulent flow of viscoelastic fluids
Abstract
Laser-Doppler-anemometer measurements of the Reynolds stresses in two-dimensional turbulent channel flow of dilute, drag reducing polymer solutions are presented. The influence of the concentration of the polymer on the near-wall layer region and the damping of the velocity fluctuations are investigated. As measurements down to y+ = 1 were possible the relationship between the shear viscosity and the shear rate has been analyzed by determining both quantities in the turbulent flow field.
