A semi compact range facility for fast prediction of antenna far-field patterns
Abstract
A hybrid procedure for predicting far-field patterns using near-field data is discussed. The generation of the cylindrical wave of uniform phase front in the vertical plane with a parabolic cylinder reflector is examined. The acquisition of near-field data in a single scan of the azimuth plane and the correlation process used to predict the far-field patterns are studied. The components and configuration of the measurement facility are described. The far-field patterns for a 28 cm diameter parabolic reflector antenna are predicted, and good correlation with measured patterns is observed.
