Calculation of scattering parameters at millimetre wave frequencies
Abstract
Simple procedures are presented for scaling forward scattering amplitudes and backward cross-sections through a wide range in the millimeter wave band. By using these procedures, amplitudes at one frequency can be obtained from those at another, and polarization-dependent amplitudes for spheroid raindrops can be obtained from Mie amplitudes. The errors resulting from using the scaled values in calculating coherent attenuation or reflectivity are shown to be no more than a few percent, whereas savings in computational effort are substantial.
