The experimental studies of boundary layer characteristics on the overflow dam by LDV
Abstract
This paper presents an experimental laser study of the boundary layer characteristics of an overflow dam. Velocity profiles of six different cross sections and the development of the boundary layer over the surface of the overflow dam are given. From the experimental data, a boundary layer thickness expression has been derived. The velocity distributions within the boundary layer near the dam's bottom are analyzed. The fluctuating pressure on the overflow dam are compared with the fluctuating velocity near the dam's bottom.
