Experimental determination of the impact broadening of the spectral lines of CO molecules in a gas-discharge CO laser
Abstract
An experimental method is proposed for determining the impact broadening of the spectral lines of CO in the active medium of a continuous-wave gas-discharge CO laser. The method employs a two-mirror resonator in which one mirror is partially transparent to laser emission and the other mirror is nontransparent and mounted on a piezoceramic substrate which makes it possible to change slightly the length of the resonator. For the vibrational rotational line P(15-14)(10), the broadening coefficient is determined to be 5 MHz/torr.
