Enhancing the sensitivity of an intracavity spectrometer based on a laser with a homogeneously broadened amplification band
Abstract
A method is proposed for increasing the sensitivity of an intracavity spectrometer, where a limitation of sensitivity results from the frequency dependence of the amplification circuit of the laser. The method proposed here is based on emission wavelength retuning and integral emission spectrum recording. The conditions leading to a maximum increase in sensitivity (at least a factor of 10) are determined, and an implementation of the method is described.
