Experimental investigation of the interaction of spheres in low-density subsonic flows
Abstract
The paper presents experimental values of coefficients of aerodynamic forces and moment determined during the interaction of two spheres in a homogeneous low-density subsonic flow at small and medium Reynolds numbers. A gradient flow with a linear velocity profile at a flat surface was generated via a three-section chamber with a porous insert. Sphere drag coefficients are compared for uniform and gradient flows. The effect of gradient flow on the aerodynamic characteristics of a single sphere is evaluated.
