One way PN code ranging
Abstract
The analysis of ranging in the case of a one way PN code return link is presented. The system considered includes a low orbit satellite with a high stability oscillator, the continuous emission of a pseudorandom code, a synchronous satellite relaying the signal, and a ground station which generates the same code and measures the time shift. In the example, Eureka data is relayed by the Olympus satellite. It is shown that the long term oscillator frequency shift is important and a procedure to estimate the error is given.
