RF stabilization of interchange-ballooning modes
Abstract
A fully electromagnetic theory describing the interaction of radio frequency waves with low frequency curvature driven modes in mirror geometry is presented. The theory includes the direct ponderomotive force terms and sideband mode coupling on an equal footing. Tandem mirror stabilization and experiments are discussed and the further measurements that would enable a more definitive comparison of theory and experiment are emphasized.
