Kalman filtering of signals in adaptive antenna arrays
Abstract
A resolution and tracking algorithm is proposed for moving sources the angular distance between which is less than half of the width of the main lobe of the antenna radiation pattern. The algorithm makes possible a dynamic estimation of the spatial spectrum for adaptive antenna arrays without requiring a significant increase in the digital-processor speed. The gain in speed is achieved owing to the fact that the correlation matrix is inverted only with the aim of specifying initial conditions for the filter-extrapolator and the subsequent correction of the model.
