Quasi-optimal detection of extended sources of stochastic fields in the Fresnel zone of a receiving antenna
Abstract
The effectiveness of a quasi-optimal algorithm for detecting extended sources of stochastic electromagnetic fields with unknown coordinates on the background of uncorrelated Gaussian noise is analyzed. It is shown that the larger the angular dimensions of the radiation source are, the larger is the base parameter separation of individual channels in angular coordinates. In addition, the larger size of the source permits fewer angular channels of the systems to be used. It is noted that the algorithm is closer to the optimal for larger sources.
