Rayleigh waves on the surface of a centrosymmetric dielectric perturbed by an external periodic electric field
Abstract
Consideration is given to the propagation of Rayleigh surface acoustic waves (RSAWs) as it is affected by the perturbation (induced by an external periodic electric field) of the elastic properties of a noncentrosymmetric dielectric due to electrostriction. A dispersion equation is obtained and the SAW Bragg reflection is analyzed on the basis of a calculation method that takes into account the dependence of the elastic moduli on the coordinates both in the boundary conditions and in the equations of motion. It is proposed that the striction-type electroacoustic arrays considered here be used to develop electrically controlled RSAW devices.
