Calculation of acoustoelectronic effects in semiconductors with a periodic array of ohmic contacts
Abstract
Features of the interaction of surface and bulk acoustic waves with electrons in semiconductors with a periodic array of ohmic contacts are analyzed. It is shown that alternating currents arise at the first and second harmonics of acoustic-wave frequency in circuits containing such semiconductor structures. Formulas for calculating these currents are derived, and the possibility of using the observed phenomena for signal amplification and frequency doubling is demonstrated. Transmission coefficients are calculated for various versions of an acoustoinjection transistor.
