Correlation function of waves scattered by rough surfaces
Abstract
The spatial correlation of waves scattered by a rough surface is studied theoretically in the framework of the Fraunhofer approximation. It is shown that there exists a certain scale of the spatial correlation inside which the correlation is different from zero, while outside of it the correlation is equal to zero. This scale depends on the type of antenna illuminating the surface and the location of the reception points at which the correlation is determined.
