Information characteristics of an MOS-LC structure with a fiber-optic input
Abstract
Experimental results are presented concerning the space-frequency and dynamic characteristics of an optically controlled transparency based on an MOS-LC (liquid crystal) structure on a fiber-optic disk intended for linkage with an image converter tube. Image spectra with a resolution of up to 15/mm have been formed. A signal-to-noise ratio of 38 dB was achieved, while the width of the diffraction orders (due to light scattering in the LC layer) was approximately 0.5/mm. It is concluded that this image converter can be used in coherent optical data processing systems.
