Asymmetric slot line - Theory and experiment
Abstract
The paper examines regular transmission lines for bulk microwave integrated circuits based on asymmetric slot lines (ASLs). It is shown that the natural modes in an ASL with a wide range of shield sizes can be calculated conveniently on the basis of the Galerkin method for integral equations with respect to magnetic currents approximated by piecewise-definite polynomials; this leads to a high convergence rate and stability of the algorithm. Experimental results have confirmed the validity of the theoretical investigation of the ASL. A stripline filter with an elliptical amplitude-frequency response curve has been designed and fabricated which has significant advantages over planar and coaxial waveguide filters in terms of weight and size.
