Symmetry of the distribution of energy flux density in waveguide inhomogeneities and certain consequences of this symmetry
Abstract
The symmetry of the Poynting-vector distribution in single-mode waveguide structures having linear or pointwise symmetry is demonstrated. A number of relations between the amplitudes and phases of the principal and higher modes are established which are not a consequence of the energy conservation law or mutuality relationships. Reference is made to the mathematical modeling of microwave circuits.
