Preliminary examination of the construction of laser gyroscopes with reduced lock-in threshold
Abstract
Ring laser equations were evaluated with a view to the lock-in threshold. Lock-in threshold measurements were performed on two different ring lasers backscattering on laser mirrors was investigated. The examination of the differential stability shows that the calculated lock-in threshold largely corresponds to the limit between the stable and unstable state as described by the ring laser equation system. The difficulties involved in solving this equation system are pointed out; further investigations are required to develop suitable algorithms.
