Fast uncooled detector for far-IR and submillimeter laser beams
Abstract
The development and construction of a new type of fast-response uncooled photodetector for pulsed laser beams are reported. The detector, operating at wavelengths from 50 to 500 microns, functions on the basis of a change in carrier mobility in semiconductors during intraband absorption of light by free carriers. At 50-500 microns, the sensitivity of the detector is found to be 0.1-10 mV sq cm/kW for a supply voltage of 4.5 V.
