Unsteady vortex flows of an ideal incompressible fluid
Abstract
A class of two-dimensional biharmonic time-dependent vortex flows is identified which includes as particular cases the Kirchhoff elliptical vortex and Gerstner waves. The uniqueness of this class of flows is demonstrated, and its principal characteristics are discussed. An analytical description is presented for a single vortex region with an external potential flow.
